Post-grad.

MA.

It’s quite a lovely feeling to see the ‘credential awarded’ note on my transcript. A little strange, too: it really is officially over. No more the graduate student. I’m looking forward to 2013 being a year of reading freely – nothing assigned, nothing required, nothing that needs summarizing. I’m more than a little sad to see that gone, though. As much as I hated the administrative hassles (there was a spectacular amount of bureaucracy and a ‘we don’t/won’t do that’ built into the program), I really loved the work. I loved digging into the research and I really did enjoy writing the papers. It was as stimulating an experience as I could have hoped for, even though it was difficult to do it while working full-time.

So that’s done now. The degree will be arriving shortly, and when it does, I’m taking it to be framed. Not a sedate, classic frame, either. I want to put this degree in something crazy and funky. That’s the plan. I’m going to hang it over the armchair I got to replace the bookcase filled with research material.
