I think I’d had this belief that weekends would be longer when grad school was done. No careful planning of how the hours would be spent in journal database searches and paper writing – that sort of thing. I’m discovering that the weekend disappears just as quickly, though. Darn. It’s possibly made worse by the increase in web surfing, too. The last couple of weeks have been intensely busy at work, so I’ve been kind of dull and tired at home. It should be easing this week, and I’ve got a couple of vacation days booked for the end of the month, too – a four day weekend planned, with a stack of books to choose from.
Is cross-country skiing popular there?
Yes, it is, as well as snowshoeing, downhill skiing, snowboarding, dog sledding. When you have snow for as many months as we have you learn to have fun with it I guess.
Then there was the snowy afternoon a man was practicing with his sled and dogs along the path by the river. All was smooth mushing til the lead dog spied a squirrel, took the rest of the team, sled and owner down the riverbank after the critter. You should have heard the guy hollering at those dogs!
Web surfing will make time disappear like that!
Oh, man…it’s deadly!
