I have solved the problem of fogged up glasses in the bitter cold.

I’m calling it: ski goggles on a walking commute in bitterly cold weather ARE THE BEST THING EVER.

Ski goggles FTW!

Granted, it was not high fashion. And I looked like I ought to have been riding a tauntaun to work. But with the windchill driving the temperature down to -37C (-34 in F) this morning, it was pretty darn awesome. I could keep my mouth and nose covered (even the tip, when I needed to) and not have my glasses fog up. This, my friends, is astounding. I never thought it possible. And to make it even better, that space – the bit just above your scarf and below your hat, in the cheekbone and eye region – that always feels like it’s about to freeze and crack in the cold? Did not. Did not. I was warmer and fog free in the chill.

It was awesome. Best cold weather walking commute yet.

Do you ever worry about your camera/phone freezing up/being damaged by trying to photograph yourself in this type of weather? Given electronics makers seem to think everyone lives in California-style weather conditions…

Yeah, you can’t leave cameras out very long in that cold, ime.

Heather, I’m amazed and in awe, with a dollop of “How crazy IS she?, thrown in. Be careful. As you well know living up there, cold like that does not make allowances for our silly human lapses and mistakes.
